UPLAND CHAPS / M/L

I have been an upland hunter for most of my life. Somehow I managed to loose one chap so I began searching for new chaps with the criteria I knew I wanted. I bought a pair that met most of my needs but not all and they required to be oiled. After a season of using those I began looking once again. My criteria 1) waterproof 2) tough enough for some pretty serious briars. 3) two belt loops. 4) zippers all the way up the leg. Tenzing met the criteria so I gave them a go. After 2 seasons here are my thoughts. Wet grass can get my jeans soaked through my chaps especially in high grass. So for dryness 5 stars. After many mornings of hunting wet grass pleased to say my jeans stay dry. I really put these to the test. Hunt is an area with really sharp briars and tons of sharp tip Yuka. I made a point to walk through some of the thickest and toughest areas just to see how badly my legs would get pricked through these chaps. Once again 5 stars. The belt loops have good wide Velcro straps. Which make them very easy to put on without removing your belt. Velcro wasn't part of my criteria but it will be from now on! Once again 5 stars. The zipper don't come all the way apart at the top of the leg so when your in a hurry you don't have to feed the zipper to zip the legs closed. I wanted full leg zippers for ease of getting on and off with my boots on. Especially when boots are muddy. So my criteria was a full zipper having them stay together at the top of the leg was a bonus feature. Once again 5 stars. The extras. I never really thought about having pokets on my chaps. But these have them and they zip closed with large easy zipper tabs. Even with gloves on I can secure my keys or other items in my chaps and know they are secure. Lightweight! I never expected something so lightweight would be so tough but they are. Snap down flap over the zipper. This flap gets the dust and dirt out of the zipper. The flap is stitched on the front side and snapped on the back. May not seem like much until you get muddy and realize how important the stitched side is in keeping the zipper clean. And finally a label to identify right and left leg. Yes it's a big deal when you just saw birds go into heavy cover and your trying to quietly hurry to get ready. The easy to see label for right and left takes out the guess work or time it takes to make sure your putting your chaps on the proper legs. This will be my 3rd season to use these chaps but you could never guess how many miles of brush they have been through. If I could give a bonus star I would. I am very happy with my Tenzing chaps.
